About Si Chun
Hi. I am Si Chun. I grew up in Discovery Bay, Hong Kong; and am now living and working in Coventry, United Kingdom.
Education
Along the way, I have managed to obtain a variety of educational qualifications: my first degree is in Economics and International Development at the University of Bath; followed by a Masters in Social Sciences Research at Loughborough University. I also have a NVQ Level 4 in Management certified by the Chartered Management Institute, and I am a qualified Project Manager with PRINCE2 Practitioner status.
I completed my Primary education at Discovery Bay International School and my Secondary education (where I took the UK GCSE and A-Level examinations) at West Island School.
Work
I work for Coventry City Council's Children, Learning and Young People's Directorate as a Development Officer. My job is to look at all aspects of the business and find ways to make things better for children and families, while ensuring that taxpayers money are well spent. In the past year, this included things like developing a financial software package to monitor the spend in the Children's Disability Team; rewriting the financial guidance for Leaving Care services; developing unit costs of key services; creating standardised eligibility and assessment criteria for new Short Breaks under the Government's Aiming High for Disabled Children agenda; as well as writing reports for Senior Officers and the Government.
Previously, I have also worked for the Centre for Child and Family Research as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate, and the Economic and Social Research Council.
Hobbies
Outside of work, I enjoy creative pursuits ranging from writing music to directing films; as well as graphic and web design. I am proficient in the use of a vast array of computer software packages, such as music sequencing, non-linear video editing, photo-editing, and web design packages.
I also play the keyboard / organ for Sacred Heart Catholic Parish.
